Govt. Lab beat Kakoli
Dhaka, December 29: Government Laboratory High School started their National School Football Islami Bank Tournament with a 3-1 victory over Kakoli High School in the opening match of the meet at the Bangabandhu national Stadium on Thursday.
Sakib Hossain of Kakoli High School scored the first goal of the tournament in the 4th minute. In a quick counter attack Sakib went past the Govt. Lab defence with a chip from midfielder Abul Kaiser and hit the far post net from the top of the box.
Govt. Lab hit back with a series of attacks but failed to equalize due to poor finishing. However Nion scored the equalizer in the 15th minute with 20 yard shot that curved over the onrushing Kakoli goalie Shipon.
Midfielder Koushik put his team ahead in the 31st minute and Nion scored the third in the 39th minute with solo effort to go past the defence and placing the ball in the far post net.
Zubair of the winners was adjudged as the man of the match.
The tourney comprises 5000 schools and one lakh footballers across the country.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid inaugurated the meet as the chief guest. State Minister for Youth and Sports Ahad Ali Sarker, Chairman of the Parrliamentary Standing Committee for Youth and Sports Jahid Ahsan Russell, BFF President Kazi Salahuddin, Chairman of Bangladesh Football Federation’s School Committee Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman and Prof. Abu Nasser Muhammad Abduz Zaher, Chairman, Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited, education secretary Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, BFF senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy, vice presidents Badal Roy, Shawkat Ali Khan Jahangir were also present on the occasion.
