Fed Cup kicks off Monday
Dhaka, January 1: Bangladesh Premier League runners-up Muktijoddha and Dhaka Mohammedan will face Cox’s City and Team BJMC in the opening day matches of the Grameenphone Federation Cup final round at the Kamalapur stadium and in the Bangabandhu National Stadium and respectively on Monday.
Both the matches of will kick off at 3:00 pm. The tickets of matches will be available in the stadium counters with the general galleries priced at Tk. 20 and the VIP for Tk. 50.
Cox’s City and BJMC both are new comers in the top level football competition with Cox’s Bazar outfit playing in the Bangladesh Championship League while BJMC has enrolled their name in the Bangladesh Premier League this year.
Muktijoddha coach Shafikul Islam Manik was feeling the lack of forwards in the tourney. With Emily and Mithun both remaining non eligible due to their suspensions and Nigerian forward Sunday Chizoba also being suspended Manik have to reshape his plans and strategy.
Mohammedan is coached by former Nigerian world cup footballer Emeka Ezeugo and the tall Nigerian has brought a number of his fellow countrymen to boost his teams strength. Emeka kicks off his coaching career in Bangladesh with the match.
Veteran striker Alfaz Ahmed will lead the Team BJMC which will field four foreigners. Cox’s City will have to take the field with all local players as the Bangladesh Championship League outfits are not allowed to recruit foreign footballers.
BFF senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy will inaugurate the tournament as the chef guest.
