Dhk Abahani rout Police
Dhaka, January 4: Defending champions Dhaka Abahani started their Grammenphone Federation Cup campaign with a convincing 6-0 win over Bangladesh Police at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday.
In the other match of the group at BSSMKS Stadium at Kamalapur Soccer Club, Feni and Arambagh Krirra Sangha played out a goalless draw.
Robin put Abahnai ahead in the 14th minute with Robin tapping home a Touhidul Alam corner (1-0).
Ghanaian forward Twum Frank doubled the margin in the 16th minute dribbling past two defenders and Police goalie Azam Khan and hitting the far post net (2-0).
Nigerian forward Lucky Paul scored his first goal in the 32nd minute after going past the defence with a chip of Twum Frank and putting the ball in the far post (3-0).
Playmaker Awudu Ibrahim netted the fourth in the 37th minute placing a Nasir cut-back in the near post (4-0).
Nine minutes after the re-start Lucky Paul netted his second with a fierce shot that deflected off a defender and bounced into the net (5-0).
Defender Waly Faisal curved a free kick form the top of the box in the 87th minute(6-0).
Abahani play Arambagh and Soccer Club meet Bangladesh Police in their respective next matches.
