Rahmatganj and Farashganj win
Dhaka, January 7: Rahmatganj MFS took the lead in the group D of the Grameenphone Federation Cup with a 3-0 victory over Wari Club while another old Dhaka outfit Farashganj beat Brothers Union 1-0 on Saturday.
At the Kamalapur Stadium Nche Fraancis, the Nigerian forward of Rahmatganj put his team ahead in the 5th minute with a solo effort and Chibui Divine Lucky later scored a brace in the 36th and 45th minute to complete the rout.
With the win Rahmatganj rode to the top of the table with four points and a better goal difference than Farashganj who upset Brothers Union at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Brorthers Union started lively and Nigerian forward Ulalekan Joshua saw his 20 yard shot saved by Farashganj goalie Sultan for a corner in the second minute.
Farashganj striker Ridon broke free in the 20th minute and cut the ball back Nigerian midfielder Peter whose center headed by Sabbir missed the sidepost.
Farashganj forward Pashobon Mollah fed his Congolese attacking partner Siyo Zunapiyo with a nice through pass in the 63rd minute but Zunapiyo placed the ball straight to Brothers goalie Raghu.
But Zunapiyo scored in the 86th minute after skipper Jewel Rana passed the ball to him from the midfield and Zunapiyo beat Raghu with a powerful shot.
Farashganj also have four points but has inferior goal difference to stay at the second.
Farashganj meets Wari while Brothers Union take on Rahmatganj in the last round of matches of the group on January 11th.
