GP Fed Cup quarterfinals preview
Dhaka, January 15: Team BJMC will lock horns with Rahmatganj in the first quarterfinal of the Grameenphone Federation Cup at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday. The first quarterfinal will kick off at 2:30 pm.
In the second quarterfinal of the day, Muktijoddha will face Farashganj at 5:30 pm at the same venue.
Zakaria Babu, the coach of Team BJMC was cautious and was ready to face a strong challenge. “We are prepared and ready for the challenge, we have beaten Muktijoddha in the group phase and it is the turning point of my team’s resurgence, we are ahead of Rahmtraganj but we have to prove it in the field” said Zakaria Babu.
Mahmudul Huq Liton, the coach of Rahmatganj admitted they are the underdogs. “Yes, we are lightweights but we have nothing to lose, we will fight it out for 90 minutes and an upset is not out of the menu, we will fight and hope to win” said Lition.
Shafiqul Islam Manik, the coach of Muktijoddha was looking forward to reach the semis. “The quarterfinal is a knockout match and there is no scope of committing a mistake, we will be careful to meet a team who has won the Independent Cup last season, however my strength is boosted as Brazilian Rafael and Lima are cleared to make their debut” said Manik.
Kamal Babu, the coach of Farashganj hopes to put a fighting show. “In comparison with the opponents, we are the underdogs but we have the team spirit and it is our key, we don’t have any stars and all are equal, we are ready to fight till the last minute, however my Cameroonian defender Libong Ngai Davis Marie is injured and Saidur will also not play for injury” said Kamal Babu
