Muktijoddha in semis
Dhaka, January 16: Muktijoddha reached the semifinal of the Grameenphone Federation beating Farashganj Sporting Club by 5-3 goals in the second quarterfinal at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
The scheduled time ended in a 1-1 tie and the extra 30 minutes also failed to break the deadlock.
After a barren first half Mithun Chowdhury put Muktiojoddha ahead in the 50th minute after Farashganj goalie Sultan Ahmed Shakil fisted an Emily placing in the top of the six yards box and Mithun headed the ball from a close range (1-0).
Congolese forward Siyo Zunapiyo scored the equalizer in the 84th minute after Farashganj striker Pashobon fed Zunapiyo and the forward placed the ball past Mamun Khan (1-1).
In the shootout Bidyut, Shakil, Brazilian midfielder Lima, Mithun and Nigerian forward Sunday Chizoba scored for Muktijoddha. Cameroonian defender Mario Devis, Pashobon and Sabir scored for Farashganj while Raziv fialed.
Muktijoddha will meet Team BJMC in the semifinal.
