BJMC's maiden final
Dhaka, January 20: Team BJMC reached the final of the Grameenphone Federation Cup with a 2-0 victory over Muktijoddha in the first semifinal held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
It is the first time Team BJMC secured a final berth of the Federation Cup.
Muktijoddha was the livelier side in the opening and they came close to a strike on several occasion but failed to score a goal. In the 17th minute Mithun failed to convert an Emily square pass from a close range, Emily placed a cross of Sunday Chizoba in the outside net in the 23rd minute, BJMC defender Shuvro cleared a ball from the goal line after Ariful tapped a Titu cross in the 66th minute.
Midfielder Abul Hossain broke the deadlock in the 68th minute after he received a head of Ismael Bangoura at the left edge of the box, took the control with a delicate chip and unleashed a fierce grounder in the near post on Muktijoddha goalie Mamun Khan (1-0).
In stoppage time Rony Islam scored the second with head on a deflection after a Ajagoun Abdul Rashid shot from the top of the box (2-0).
Team BJMC will play the final against the winner of Sheikh Russell Sheikh Jamal semifinal winner on Tuesday.
