Post match: Afghanistan vs Maldives

Monday, 07 December 2009 14:15
Dhaka, Dec 07

Afghanistan coach Yousuf Kargar’s comments:

About match:

As you know all the players are professional here. Anything can happen in this level. You know we played well in the first half and we got a goal. But in the second half we were not as much stronger as we were in first half. Our players got tired and lost concentration.

About Maldives:

Maldives was better than us in every department. They were physically strong, mentally sharp and more than professional. So, we remained behind them.

We had many chances but we couldn’t make it. I would like to congratulate Maldives coach and players for their victory.

Maldives coach Urbanyi Istevan’s comments:

First I appreciate Afghan players and coach. They were trying their best. They played well in first half. In the second half they broke down a little. I am happy with the boys the way they turned over. They recovered power and self believe. Of course I am happy.

About next match: We have two days to go. It is too early to finalize our game plan. I will sit with the team and talk about the game plan. India is a very strong team; they have 6-7 seven national players in this team. So, we will have a tough game with them.
