Dhaka, July 6: The Bangladesh Football Federation is looking to select an expanded squad of 28-35 U18 players. The federation held a trial for the age level players on July 4 at BKSP to that end.

Under-18 players registered with the Bangladesh Premier League and Bangladesh Championship League took part in the trials but the squad has not been finalised yet, said BFF technical director Paul Smalley.

He said the selectors would continue to watch their performance in different matches. “We will also ask the club coaches about them.”

Smalley said the federation was looking to finalise a squad within another 10 days and start preparing for the SAFF Championship and the AFC Championship. However, the technical director said that selection of the squad would also depend a lot on clubs.

In another development, 64 U18 players from the districts have started a three-week camp at Gopalganj. “This is a culmination of the National Sports Council talent hunt programme,” said Paul Smalley.
