Wazed Miya KC lifts title of 1st Dhaka Mahanagari Football Tournament

Dhaka, August 13: Finale of the ‘Walton 1st Dhaka Mahanagari Football Tournament 2017’ ended with Dr Wazed Miya Krira Chakra lifting the trophy by beating Shantinagar Club 2-1 in the BSSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Dhaka’s Kamalapur on Sunday.

For the winning team, Mehedi Hasan Tapu scored the first goal 30 minutes into the game. Runners-up Shantinagar Club had the chance to fight back in the 70th minute as Rasel Hossain put the ball in the opponent’s net.

However, Wazed Miya KC was in the lead again when Abdul Halim Tutul scored the last goal of the game in the 81st minute, ensuring the win for his team with 2-1 on the score line.

The prizes of the tournament were handed over by special guests - operative director, HoD (sports and welfare) of Walton, FM Iqbal Bin Awar Don, managing director of Saif Powertec Ltd Md Ruhul Amin, brand and communications head of Minister High Tech Park Ltd and former coach of Bangladesh Football Team, Golam Sarwar Tipu.

Dhaka Mahanagari Football League Committee chairman Harunur Rashid, tournament committee chairman Saleh Jalam Selim, vice chairman Enamul Haque Abul, and other members of the disciplinary committee were present in the prize giving ceremony as well.
