U15 boys claim third place in SAFF Championship

Kathmandu, August 27: Bangladesh national U15 football team registered a thumping 8-0 victory in the third place match of the just finished SAFF U15 Championship 2017 at the Halchowk Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal on Sunday afternoon.

Earlier, in the group stage, Bangladesh put 3 past the Bhutanese side without any reply. This time around, the Red and Greens added 5 more.

Raja Sheikh and Miraj Molla scored two braces for Bangladesh whereas Md Foysal Ahmed Fahim, Md Akash, Yeasin Arafat and Md Arif Hossen scored a goal each.

Bangladesh prodigy Md Foysal Ahmed Fahim took away the best player of the tournament award as well as the honour of the top scorer with 7 goals in 4 matches.

Moreover, Bangladesh was awarded the Fair Play award along with their third place trophy. The team played four matches without a single card.

Meanwhile, the India U15 team emerged as the champions of the tournament with a 2-1 victory over hosts Nepal in the final match.

The U15 boys are scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka at 3:15pm on Monday via a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
