BFF decides on BPL, BCL relegation, appoints managers for team U18, U16

Dhaka, September 5: The Executive Committee of Bangladesh Football Federation on Tuesday decided that one team will be relegated from the ongoing ‘Saif Power Battery Bangladesh Premier 2017’ and the ‘Marcel Bangladesh Championship League 2017’ at the end of the season.

On the other hand, two teams will be promoted from the Championship League to the next ‘Bangladesh Premier League 2018’ in the next season, decided the meeting.

The decisions were taken in the 8th regular meeting of the BFF executive committee held in the board room with President Kazi Md Salahuddin in the chair.

The meeting had also come to the conclusion that only three clubs, namely Abahani Ltd Dhaka, Mohammedan SC Ltd and Saif Sporting Club have managed to meet the requirements of the renewed ‘AFC Club Licencing’ terms.

Other than that, the meeting appointed Md Amirul Islam Babu as the manager of the Bangladesh U18 National Football Team, which is slated to compete in the ‘SAFF U18 Championship 2017’ in Bhutan. The team will leave Dhaka for Bhutan on September 16.

In addition to that, the executive committee named Md Amirul Islam Babu as the team leader of the Bangladesh U16 National Women’s Team which is slated for competing in the ‘AFC U16 Women’s Championship 2017’ in Thailand. Md Zakir Hossain Chowdhury has been named the manager of the team. The contingent for the tournament will leave Dhaka for Thailand on September 8.

Lastly, the meeting decided to suspend BFF trainer Syed Golam Jilani for six months, starting from June 1 to November 30, 2017, for breaching the code of conduct.
