Enamul keeps Abahani up

Dhaka, May 12: Two goals by national striker Enamul Haque helpd Abahani Limited to thump a 2- 0 deafeat to the visiting New Road Team in their AFC President Cup Qualifying match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium Today.

Abahani was dominating the field from the beginning of the match and the sky blues missed some good chances before Enamul finally broke the deadlock by scoring with a right foot drive in the 28th minute. He got the ball from a good square pass by his Ghanaian playmate Awudu Ibrahim inside the box.

The hosts continued dominating their rivals, as the ball remain in front of the visiting sides post most of the time and the Bangladeshi champions made some good attempts.

Referee awarded the home side a spot-kick when a Zahed Parvez shot hit Nepalese defender Sagar’s hand inside their danger zone. Enamul took the penalty kick for the Dhaka giants and successfully beat the opponent custodian to seal the match.

The only bright side of the Kathmandu based team was their Danish striker Shayan. He attempted twice on the post and once he was blocked by the local goalkeeper Biplob, in another occasion the ball hit the sidebar.
