Oxford International wins the World Cup friendly

Dhaka, June 19: Goethe Institute Bangladesh is organizing a month long program titled “World Cup Fever”. There was a football contest among four schools of Dhaka at the Bangabandhu National Stadium as a part of this event. The schools are Scholastica International School, South Point School, Oxford International School and Maple Leaf School.

Oxford International overwhelmed South Point 10 – 0 in the day’s opener to confirm their final whereas Scholastica outplayed Maple Leaf 4 – 0 in the other match.

Oxford International clinched the trophy defeating the other finalist Scholastica in a 5 - 4 tie-breaker as both the team failed to score in the slotted forty minutes. Scolastica’s Rakin Rahman was declared the best player of the tournament

After the school competition there was an exhibition match between Goethe Institute XI and Bangladesh Veteran XI where the hosts won 4 – 0.

Bangladesh Football Federation’s vice president Showkat Ali Khan Jahangir and German Embassy’s deputy head of mission Rolph Dieter handed the prizes to the respective teams and players at the end. BFF’s general secretary Al Musabbir Sadi and the director of Goethe Institute Bangladesh Agela Grunert were also present in the prize giving ceremony.
