Jordan starts well

Dhaka, Sep 20: Jordan came from one goal behind to thump Bangladesh huge 6-1 in AFC U-19 Women’s Championship 2011 Qualifiers Group D combat here at Birsreshta Shahid Sepoy Mostafa Kamal Stadium, Kamalapur today.

An about fifteen thousand spectators were roaring in joy while Sabina Khatun converted a Mirona pass to put the home side ahead just seven minutes after the play started.

The visitors missed a couple of good chances before Ayah Faisal finally equalizing from a penalty in 34th minute. Referee awarded the spot-kick while home teams Suravi Akter Eti pulled down Jordan’s Shahnaz Yaseen inside the penalty zone.

Shahnaz’s solo effort brought the lead for her team in the 37th minute. She penetrated in Bangladesh’s danger zone dodging three defenders and finished from close.

Shahnaz was again on target in the 64th minute. This time it was from a counter attack (3-1).

Shatha Wahbi was very impressive in the field from the very beginning and she found the net in 74th minute. A strong right foot grounder by Shatha from Fami Amin’s pass inside the penalty zone made it 4-0.

Shatha helped Maysam Muhsen to add one more in the extra time. Maysam must have thanked Shatha for a good forward pass.

The day observed the second treble while nimble Shahnaz scored just one minute before the final whistle. She capitalized the opportunity of faulty Bangladeshi defense. The hosts were looking very exhausted. Iran’s Farhadikhah Parvin got a hat-trick in the opening match against India earlier.

Bangladeshi coach Mahmud Alam Babu accused the poverty of experience for this loss. He said “We are less experienced. So we lost but I hope we will do better next time.”

Jordanian coach supported Babu saying “From the start of the match we realized that this is a very young side. They lacks strength but they have good speed. However, our first mission is accomplished. Now we are eying the next match.”
