After this triumph Brothers is in the top of the table with 3 points, whereas Mohammedan and Muktijoddha have one point each in their tally.

In the day’s other match, heavyweight Mohammedan Sporting Club played a goalless draw against rejuvenated Muktijoddha Shangshad at the same venue.

Soccer Club were organized in the first half and they got the early lead but could not retain it as they were looking scattered after the breather. A nimble Masudul Alam Bulbul penetrated in all orange’s penalty area taking the advantage of the local team’s defensive errors and scored with a strong right footer in the 17th minute.

Brothers charged up after conceding one and started pressing for the equalizer. Finally in the 38th minute Everton’s solo effort decreased the pressure on his side. He dodged three opponent defenders before disturbing the net with a low drive.

Everton doubled the lead in the second half with assistance of Ghanaian striker Enock Bentil. They entered in the penalty zone playing wall pass and Everton finished on the post from close in the 48th minute.

Brothers’ Faisal Mahmood took the score out of Soccer Club’s reach who went for a desperate all-out strategy to return in the match. Soccer Club’s custodian Piaruzzaman Piru got no chance to save Faisal’s powerful shot from Enocks right flank pass in the 70th minute.

Both the teams got some good chances to score after the fourth goal of the match but none could utilize any of those.

Later on, Mohammedan and Muktijoddha also squandered some good early opportunities in a high voltage match, whereby the game ended without any score.

Muktijoddha’s Nigerian forward Alamu Bukola Olalykan found the rival goalie in an one on one situation in the 7th minute but the prolific striker failed to keep the ball on the target.

Bukola’s Nigerian nemesis Emeka Christiano tried on target with a long ranger in a counter attack but his shot was direct to the Muktijoddha goalkeeper Titumir Chowdhury Titu.

Muktijoddha generated some remarkable attacks in the second half as well but they were not able to beat black and white custodian Biplop. Bukola received a Motiur Munna pass near the post but his attempt on target was cancelled by an acrobatic Biplob in the 77th minute.

Muktijoddha coach Maruful Haque is disappointed with his boys’ performance. “We could not capitalize the opportunities. Bukola missed some easy chances. He was under pressure as he played for Mohammedan last season. We have to win the next encounters anyway,”said Maruf.

Mohammedan coach Shafiqul Islam Manik is satisfied with the result. “It was our season’s first appearance and our opponent was stronger than us on paper. We had to make some changes in the squad at the last moment due to some technical problems. However, I am happy with the result,” he remarked.
