Brothers hold Abahani
Dhaka, February 27: Brothers Union held Dhaka Abahani to a 1-1 draw in the lone match of the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
Abahani came close to a strike in the 7th minute but Ghanaian forward Twum Frank who took an Awudu Ibrahim through pass past the defence failed to beat onrushing Brothers goalie Uttam Barua.
However Lucky Paul Otofe, the Nigerian forward put Abahani ahead in the 25th minute as defender Nasir fed him with a through pass from a top of the box melee and Lucky blasted home from close range (1-0)
Brothers lone chance came in the 39th minute when Nigerian Kingsley Chigozie broke free in the left flank but shot straight to Abahani goalie Shahidul Alam Sohel.
After the break Brothers Union put considerable pressure and scored the equalizer in the 81st minute. Nigerian forward Joshua Olalekan was brought down in the left edge of the box and his compatriot Adams Jankasha scored from the penalty (1-1).
After four matches Abahani moved up to second position with 8 points while Brothers earned their second point in four matches.
