Mukti stumble at MSC
Dhaka, February 29: Muktijoddha lost their first point in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League as Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd held them to a goalless draw at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday.
With the draw Muktijoddha remained on the top of the table with 13 points from five matches and Mohammedan remained on the sixth position with five points from four matches.
Mohammedan’s Nigerian forward Edouze Kenneth Ochendo saw his 25 yarder miss the crosspiece by a few inches.
Muktijoddha defender Firoz Mahmud Titu saw his free kick from the left of the box hit the sidepost in the 13th minute.
Muktijoddha wasted another easy chance in the added time of the first half when Mithun Chowdhury cut the ball back from the left edge of the six yard box but Emily and Sunday Chizoba missed the line.
In the 62nd minute Brazilian midfielder Lima curved a free kick from the left flank and the ball landed in the middle of the box, Ariful unleashed a fierce volley that hit the crosspiece from the hands of Mohammedan goalie Himel.
In the 82nd minute Mohammedan striker Wahed grabbed the ball from Muktijoddha defender Paul Emmanule Dammi and placed the ball past onrushing Muktijoddha goalie Mostrak but the ball missed the empty net.
Muktijoddha tried hard to score in the dying stages but Mohammedan survived the pressure.
