Jamal Abahani crunch match on Friday
Dhaka, March 15: Defending champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd faces title contenders Abahani Ltd in a crunch match of Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium at 3:45 pm on Friday.
Abahani with 14 points from six matches remain as the lone team yet to taste defeat and is positioned second, two points behind leaders Muktijoddha. Sheikh Jamal also has played six matches but has earned only seven points and they are positioned sixth.
Sheikh Jamal will miss the services of their reliable names of Nigerian winger Femi Orunimi and goalie Aminul. Femi will be serving a three yellow card suspension while Aminul is out of the country for his mother's treatment.
Abu Yusuf, the coach of Jamal hoped to continue the improvement. “We beat Mohammedan in the last match and now we are ready to face Abahani, the players have found the confidence and with a team work based performance we want to continue the improvement, we want to repair the damage” said Yusuf.
Satyajit Das Rupu, the manager of Abahani warned his players about complacency. “We are not thinking about whom we are playing, all we know we will face a tough opponent and we will take the field to win and reach the top of the table” Said Rupu.
Awudu Ibrahim returns to the eleven after missing the last match for a yellow card suspension.
