Muktis beat Brothers 3-0

Dhaka, June 02: Muktijoddha Sangsad KC beat Brothers Union 3-0 in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.

With the win, Muktijoddha took their tally to 34 points from the 16 matches while Brothers Union remained with their previous earning 15 points from the same number of the matches.

Muktijoddha Sangsad  came close to a strike in the 6th minute but Shakil's shot from the left flank hit the side bar. Muktijoddha’s another attack was spoiled by Brothers goalie Shabuz Das Raghu in the 15th minute. Nigerian striker Sunday Chizoba’s shot was punched by Roghu which went over the crossbar after pass from midfielder Mamunul Islam Mamun.

Rafael De Androde put Muktijoddha ahead in the  46th minute. The tall Brazilian’s header hit the back of the net after deflecting with Brothers midfielder Tonmoy Hossain Taru. (1-0)

The Gopibagh outfits also got several opportunities to take lead. In the 40th minute Nigerian Striker Kingley Chigozie’s header on Javed corner was saved by defender Ariful from goal line.

Bothers best chance was spoiled by Muktijoddha’s goalie Maksudur Rahman Mostak in the 49th minute. Capitalizing a ball from midfield the Nigerian striker entered into the box and took a powerful shot but Mostak punched away the ball. Brothers another forward Victory Antony shot on the rebounder again saved by Mustak for a corner.

Raghu again saved Brothers from conceding second goal in the 61st minute when Muktijoddha’s midfielder Maruf Ahmed free kick from 20yards punching away.

Right winger Nasir Uddin Chowdhury doubled the lead in the 70th minute. Receiving a lobbed off Sunday Chijuba, the former army man took a powerful shot that beat goalie Roghu. (2-0)

Sunday Chijoba sealed the victory for Muktijoddha in the stoppage time when the Nigerian striker’s shot beat the onrushing goalie Roghu after controlling a ball from midfield. (3-0)

In the first leg Mukti was lost to Brothers 2-1.
