Dhaka, July 01: Sheikh Russell KC completed their professional league
campaign with a 3-2 win over Team BJMC in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at
Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday.
With the win, Russel took their tally to 32 points from 20 matches
while Team BJMC remained their previous collection of 33 points from 20
matches. Team BJMC got a chance to take the lead in the 14th minute but Guinean
forward Ismail Bangoura’s shot from inside the penalty area went wide on a cross
off Nigerian forward Ajagun Abdul Rasheed from the right flank. Three minutes later, Rasheed missed a clear cut chance having the
goalie Bilpob on one-on-one. But the forward shot straight to the goalie. A minute later, forward Anward Hossain broke the deadlock for Russell.
Right winger Yousuf fed a ball from the edge of the box for Anwar who placed
the ball into the net. (1-0) Russell doubled the lead two minutes later through winger Md Yousuf. Forward
Anwar Hossain failed to meet Nigerian forward Alamu Bukola’s cut back but Yousuf
received the ball and sent it into the empty net. (2-0) Custodian Biplob saved second time Sk. Russell to concede goal in the
32nd minute. After running from almost the halfway, Rasheed broke into the
penalty area and tried to tap the ball between the legs of Biplob. Team BJMC reduced the margin in the 44th minute. Ismail
Bangoura fed the ball to Rasheed with a brilliant cross from the left flank and
the Nigerian forward placed the ball past the goalie. (2-1) Anwar scored third goal for Russell in the 82nd minute by a
placing shot. Nigerian forward Alamu Bukola put a through pass for winger
Yousuf who entered into the box and took a shot but his shot deflected Team BJMC
goalie Atiqul Islam Tariq and opportunist Anwar pushed the ball into the net.
(3-1) Guinean forward Ismail scored his 17th goal in the league
from a free kick just edge of the box in the 85th minute. (3-2)
