Abahani-Muktijoddha Title Decideron Tuesday
Dhaka, July 02: In a “Battle Royale” Dhaka Abahani Ltd lock horns with Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra to decide the title of the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium at 5: 30 pm on Tuesday.
Table toppers Abahani who has collected 44 points from 19 matches needs a draw to win their fourth professional league title. Muktijoddha who has 43 needs a victory to win their maiden title of the professional football league silverware.
Back in year 2000 Abahani and Muktijoddha played each other in the last match of the premier division football league and Muktijoddha won the title with a draw.
In the highly competitive fixture, both the teams will be relying on their foreign recruits for achieving the ultimate target-the title. Abahani’s Ghanaian trio of playmaker Awudu Ibrahim, defender Samad Youssif, and forward Ntini Twum Frank alongwith Brazilian striker Generoso Da Silva has the firepower to steer the traditional sky blue outfit.
On the other hand Nigerian forward Sunday Chizoba, Brazilian duo of defender Raphael and midfielder Lima and Nigerian defender Emmanuel Dammi makes Muktijoddha a formidable squad.
Abahani’s Iranian coach Ali Akbar Parmoslemi will be hoping to win his maiden title as he missed last editions success. “The team is motivated, we are ready to put the best, I have asked the players to finish the league at the top as there is no meaning of being on the top in 19 matches but lose the last and finish runners-up” said Parmoslemi.
Shafikul Islam Manik, the Muktojoddha coach echoed almost the same tune. “We have proved that we can be the champions as the difference of point is only one, we have dreamt to winning the title by beating Abahani and the time has arrived, there is no short cut, if you have to be the best you have to beat the best as Abahani is the best team in paper, we are ready to win the title with solid teamwork” said Manik.
