Dhaka, July 7: Bangladesh Premier League champions Dhaka Abahani Ltd beat Dhaka Bank XI 4-2 in an exhibition match marking the bank’s 17th anniversary at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday. 

Dhaka Bank XI’s midfielder Jamal Hossain unleashed a fierce 25 yarder in the 22nd minute but Abahani goalie Ziaur Rahman punched it for a corner. 

Abahani went ahead in the 23rd minute with winger Jahid Hossain running down the right flank and provided a low cross to Awudu Ibrahim who hit the top right corner of the net with a left footer (1-0). 

Three minute later Awudu Ibrahim, the Ghanaian playmaker of Abahani doubled the lead off a penalty. Onrushing Jahid was fouled but Anisur Alam Sweet in the right edge of the box and Awudu converted the penalty. (2-0)

 Abdul Baten Komol wasted another chance in the 35th minute after Shakil Ahmed fed him in the middle of the box but Komol’s placing flew over the crosspiece. 

Mithun Chowdhury pulled one back for Dhaka Bank XI in the 42rd minute with a cracking shot form 30 yards that beat Zia in the middle of the net (2-1). 

Just two minutes after the break Shakil Ahmed scored the equalizer. Taking a Mithun Chowdhury back pass at the left edge of box Shakil beat Zia in the near post with a left footer. (2-2)

Twum Frank put Abahani ahead again in the 64rd minute after Jahid provided him a with a low cross and Twum Frank, the Ghanaian forward who entered the field as a substitution of Towhidul Alam placed the ball in the far post. (3-2)

Shakhawat Rony headed the foruth goal in the 66th minute beating Titumir at the top of the box on a cross of Awudu Ibrahim (4-2). 

Didarul Alam reduced the margin in the 86th minute as his diving header on a Maruf Ahmed cross beat Zia in the far post. (4-3)

Rony added his second in the 90th minute with a placing shot on a forward pass of Awudu Ibrahim. (5-3) 

Every player of the both teams recieved a purse of TK 10 thousand as a participation money.
