Muktis edge past Ctg Abahani
Dhaka, November 24: Muktijodhha beat Chittagong Abahani 3-2 in the Walton Federation Cup at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday.
Forward Md. Biplob put Muktijoddha Sanghsad KC ahead in the 11th minute. Nigerian winger Nkwacha Kingsley sent a square pass to Biplob at the middle of the box and he placed the ball into the near post net.(1-0).
Muktijoddha had a chance to double the lead in the 33rd minute but Nkwacha Kingsley’s chip went over Ctg Abahani goalie Md. Piaruzzaman and hit the crossbar.
Kingsley doubled the margin in the 43rd minute with a nice finishing. Taking a pass from Biplob, the Nigerian hit-man rushed to the box and beat port city goalkeeper Piaruzzaman with an angular shot to the far post. (2-0).
Biplob scored his second and third goal for Muktijoddha in the 54 minute with a neat grounder after dashing past the defence in the right flank (3-0)
Ctg Abahani reduced the margin through their forward Md. Sohel Mia whose brilliant header on cross of midfielder Abdul Hannan beat Muktijoddha goalie Aminul in the far post (3-1).
Chittagong Abahani’s forward Jabed Khan squandered a chance to reduce the margin in the 71st minute as he failed to headed home on a rebounder after midfielder Nazrul Islam’s long range shot hit the cross bar.
But Jabed scored his team's second in the injury time as his angular chip on a back pass of Ashik Ahmed curved into the net (3-2)
