Dhaka, March 24: Brothers Union drew 1-1 with Chittagong Abahani in the group D match of the Modhumoti Bank Independence Cup Football at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday. 

Brothers Union took the lead in the 22nd minute after new midfielder Chimezie Mike sent a long ball from the midfield and midfielder Jewel Rana took the control of the ball at the left edge of the box, he cut a square pass to onrushing Rubel Miah placed the ball into the open near post (1-0)

Chittagog Abahani regrouped and started to attack their opponents and in the 38th minute Guinean forward Ousmane Cherif scored the equalizer with a powerful shot from 20 yards (1-1)

In the 42nd minute Chittagong Abahani forward Sohel Mia made his way through the Brothers Union defence but shot into the outside net. 

In the dying stage of the second half Brothers  Union forward Abdul Malek failed to score on a one to one situation with Ctg Abahani goalie Nahiduddin.
