Dhaka, April 2: Feni Soccer moved into the semifinals of the Modhumoti Bank Independence Cup Football  beating defending champions Sheikh Russell 4-3 goals in the penalty shootout  at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday. 

The match went to shootout after it was locked 2-2 at the end of 90+30 minutes.  

Feni Soccer took the lead in the 8th minute of the match through their Gambian forward Kabba Jobe after compatriot Mathew Mendy sent a long ball from the midfield and Jobe’s quick placing shot beat Russell goalie Biplob in the far post (1-0) 

In the 16th minute Feni Soccer forward Akbar Hossan Ridon was in an advantageous position but he short straight to Biplob. 

Russell’s Haitian forward Pascal Millien made his way through the Feni Soccer defence but put the ball straight to Soccer goalie Md. Nehal. 

Feni Soccer  came close to another strike in the 58th minute after Kabba Jobe cut a neat through pass to Landing Darboe whose angular shot missed the side post. 

Francisco Usucar, the Uruguayan midfielder of Russell saw his fierce shot from 20 yards out fly over the cross piece.

Landing Darboe missed a penalty in the 85th minute after  Chuka Charles was fouled by defender Rezaul Karim in the box but Landing’s shot was punched for a corner by Russell goalie Biplob.  

In the 89th minute Jamaican midfielder Ricardo Cousins placing deflected off Soccer goalie Nehal and flew into the middle of the post. The assistant referee declared it a goal before it was cleared by a Feni defender. (1-1)
 
In the 11th minute of the second half of the extra time Feni Soccer defender Shahinur Rahman Shahin fouled Russell forward Robin inside the box and Pascal scored from the spot kick (2-1)

However in the very next minute Nigerian forward Chiuka Charles scored the equalizer after midfielder Rony Islam provided him a square pass and he beat Biplob in the far post (2-2) 

After 120 minutes of football the match went to shootout  where Kabba Jobe, Mathew Mendy, Ajmal Hossain Bidyut and Landing Darboe scored for Feni Soccer. Mithun Chowdhury, Savanovic, Pascal, scored for Russell  while Ricardo Cousins  and Francisco Usucar missed.
