Russell thrash Baridhara

Dhaka, April 15: Sheikh Russell beat Uttar Baridhara by 5-2 goals in the first match of the second phase of the Nitol-Tata Bangladesh Premier Football League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday. 

Mithun Chowdhury put his team ahead in the 6th minute after midfielder Sohel Rana cut a low cross from the left flank and Mithun headed the ball in the near post (1-0) 

The lead was doubled in 32nd minute s Haitian forward Pasacal Milien placed a Sohel Rana low cross in the roof of the net (2-0)

Ricardo Cousins, the Jamaican attacker of Russell scored his first in the 55th minute with a placing shot on a long ball of Pascal (3-0)

Uttar Baridhara hit back in the 38th minute when Nigerian attacker Kosko’s neat placing shot on a low cross of Lucky Divine beat Russel goalie Biplob in the near post (3-1)

But Russell’s lead was extended in the 73rd minute by substitute winger Shakil Ahmed when he saw his first effort blocked by Barridhara goalie Sony Dutta but the rebounder was headed home by Shakil (4-1)

Riacardo Cousins scored his second in the 82nd minute after the unmarked Jamaican fond the ball in the middle of the box and blasted the ball home (5-1)

In the last minute of the match Uttar Baridhara midfielder Dulala Hasan’s shot hit the hand of Russell defender Reza and a penalty was awarded. Skipper Swapan converted the spot kick (5-2)

Russell has 15 points from 10 matches while Uttar Baridhara remained on their previous collection of six points.
