Russell held by Ctg. Abahani
Dhaka, April 21: Sheikh Russell drew 1-1 with Chittagong Abahani in the second phase of the Nito-Tata Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday.
Russell would have taken the lead in the 6th minute but Haitian forward Pascal Millien, though unmarked failed to control the ball in the middle of the Chittagong Abahani box.
In the 10th minute of the match Serbian forward of Russell Miroslav Savanovic saw his 30 yard free kick punched for a corner by Abahani goalie Salimullah.
Chittagong Abahani shocked Sheikh Russell in the 53rd minute when Ugandan midfielder Michael Dumba curved a free kick and Guinean midfielder Mohammed Conte found the ball in the middle of the box, taking control of the ball he blasted a right footer into the middle of the Russell net (1-0)
Russell equalized with a penalty in the 65th minute. Pascal Millien’s shot hit the hand of Abahani defender Camara Momado and it resulted in a penalty. Pasacal converted the spot kick (1-1)
With the draw Russell took their tally to 16 points while Chittagong Abahani earned 6 points, both the teams have played 11 matches.
