Baridhara hold Jamal
Dhaka, May 23: Uttar
Baridhara held Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 1-1 draw in the 2nd
phase of the Nitol Tata Bangladesh
Premier Football League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
Uttar Baridhara took
the lead in the 17th minute through their Kenyan striker Collons
Tiego. Midfielder Khalekur Jamen curved a cross to unmark Collins Tiego who
headed the ball into the far post. (1-0)
Haitian forward Sony
Norde restored the parity in the 27th minute with a fierce right
footer from 20 yards. (1-1)
Baridhara had a chance
to take lead again but Tiego’s shot from 25 yards was saved by Jamal goalie
Mazharul Islam dived to the left in the 30th minute.
Nigerian forward Emeka
Darlington was sent off in the 80th minute by referee Azad Rahman
showing direct red card as the forward tackled downed Baridhar’s goalie Osman
Gani.
Sony Norde squandered
an opportunity in the 87th minute. Haitian Wedson was brought down
in the box by opponent defender Saedur Rahman and referee whistled for penalty.
But Sony’s penalty shot went over the cross piece.
Despite this draw
Jamal maintained the top position of the league table with 39 points from 17
matches while Uttar Baridhara earned 12 points also played 17 matches.
