Brothers beat BJMC
Dhaka, May 29: Brothers Union beat Team BJMC 2-1 in the second phase of the Nitol-Tata Bangladesh Premier Football League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday.
Simon Ezeodika scored a spectacular goal in the 17th minute to put Brothers ahead. Receiving a long ball the Nigerian forward let it bounce at the front and unleashed a precise volley from 25 yards out that went over the command of BJMC keeper Hemel and deepened inside the bar.
BJMC reduced to 10 men five minutes into the second half when their goalkeeper Arifuzzaman Hemel, during Brothers’ counter attack, came out of the box to clear the ball with his hands and was seen straight red card.
Rubel Miah netted another brilliant goal with solo effort five minutes before the stipulated time. The in-form forward started the run from his own territory and paced past three opponents players before cutting inside the keeper and placed the ball into an empty net.
Nigerian midfielder Samosn Iliasu pulled one back for BJMC in the injury time smashing home in a low cross of Aminur Rahman Shojib from the right side.
After this win, Brothers took their tally to 29 points from 18 matches while BJMC remained their previous earning of 19 points from same number of matches.
