Dhaka, October 17: Iran continued their winning spree in the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Qualifiers group B beating India 2-1 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
India , playing their first match took the lead in the 13th minute after midfielder Anline Sharmila cut a through pass from the midfield and onrushing Premi Chiru outran her marker to place the ball, Iranian goalie Mobina Khodadad dived to block the ball but it came out of her gloves, Premi tapped the ball inside the net (1-0)
Iran piled up pressure and in the injury time Sana Sadhegy shot the ball over from the middle of the box.
However Iran’s effort succeeded in the 71st minute substitute midfielder Fatemeh Husseini showed good footwork to go past her marker carrying a square pass of Fatemeh Ghashemi and placed the ball past Indian goalie Shreya (1-1).
Fatemeh Gerailii scored the winner in the 87th minute. Skipper Fatemeh Geraeli floated a long ball from the midfield and unmarked Huseini slotted the ball into the far post net (2-1)
Iran beat UAE 9-0 in their first match.
