Bangabandhu Gold Cup: Logo unveiled
Dhaka, January 15: Among much enthusiasm, the logo of Bangabandhu Gold Cup was unveiled at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel on Thursday. The grouping of the coveted international tournament of Bangladesh Football Federation was also revealed in the same ceremony.
The six team meet will see Bahrain U-23, Singapore U-23 and Thailand in group A while Malaysia, Sri Lanka and hosts Bangladesh in group B. The tournament is billed to kick-off on January 29 and conclude on February 8.
AB Bank is the presenting sponsors, while National Bank Ltd, Beximco and Modhumoti Bank Ltd are the official partners.
Finance Minister A.M.A. Muhith was the chief guest on the occasion. Deputy minister for youth and sports Arif Khan Joy, BFF president Kazi Salahuddin and event rights holder Channel 9 managing director Enayetur Rahman Bappi were also present on the occasion.
The Finance Minister said football is the most popular sports of the country and the government will assist the development programme of football as required.
Kazi Salahuddin said with hosting of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup football takes another step towards attaining the higher standards. He hoped Bangladesh will be in the semis.
