Dhaka, January 29: Hosts Bangladesh conceded 1-0 defeat against Malaysia U-23 in the inaugural match of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup at the sylhet Syadium on Thursday. 

Malaysia has the better possession in the opening minutes and Arif Farhan hit the crosspiece from the top of the box in the 7th minute. 

Malaysian midfielder Adam Nor was looking at the sky in the 15th minute when his header rebounded off the crosspiece again. 

Bangladesh forward Emily missed the line of a Zahid low cross in the 2nd minute in front of the opponent goal. 

Malaysia took the lead in the 51st minute when Md. Syazwan saw Bangladesh goalie Russell Mahmud Liton out of position and curled the ball in form 25 yards. 

Bangladesh failed to rise on the occasion and conceded the defeat.
