Malaysia in final
Dhaka, February 5: Malaysia cruised into the final of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup with a 1-0 win over Singapore in the first semifinal at the Sylhet stadium on Thursday.
In the 14th minute, Singapore goalkeeper Mohamed Rudy punched away a shot of Muhamad Faizat following a corner of Azawari. Kumaahran found the rebound but fired the ball over the bar.
Five minutes into the second half, a lobbed pass of Adam Nor created a great chance for Muhammad Syazwan who shot just wide off the post.
However midfielder Kumaahran put the Malaysians ahead in the 50th minute. Taking a through from Syazwan, he drifted into the box and beat Rudy in the middle of the post.
Singapore midfielder Emmran bin Mazlan wasted a great chance in the 57th minute when he failed to connect a cross from just outside the six-yard box.
