Jamal in semis

Dhaka, February 24: Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club moved into the semifinal of the Federation Cup beating Brothers Union 5-4 in the sudden death of penalty shootout at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday.
 
The match ended 2-2 draw in the stipulated time.
  
Brothers Union had chance to move ahead when winger Kawser Ali Rabbi curved a right footer from 25 yards and the ball missed the Jamal’s crosspiece by few inches.
 
In the 31st minute Jamal’s Haitian forward Wedson Anselme’s strong header on a cross of midfielder Monaem Khan Raju rebounded off the Brothers crosspost. 
 
Jamal took the lead in the 45th minute. Gambian Landing Darboe fierce grounder slipped from the gloves of Brothers goalie Biplob Battacharjee and unmarks Haitian forward Leonel Preux placed the ball into the net. (1-0)
 
Six minutes after the restart, winger Kawser Ali Rabbi equalized for Brothers. Receiving a long ball of Haitian forward Augustin Walson, Rabbi chipped the ball over the onrushing Jamal goalie Himel. (1-1)
 
Brothers took lead in the 56th minute. Nigerian defender Adams Jankasa headed home on rebounder of his long through in the far post net. (2-1)
 
Wedson squandered a chance to equalize the score for Jamal but his header on a cross of Landing from the right was saved by Brothers goalie Biplob diving to the right.    
 
Brothers midfielder Rajon Mia wasted an easy chance to advance the lead but he shot wide having open net after receiving a cross of Kawser Ali Rabbi from the left.
 
Landing Darboe brought Jamal back into the match in the 83rd minute. Rubel Mia put a square pass to Gambian midfielder Landing who placed the ball into the net without doing any mistake.  (2-2)       
 
In the penalty shootout Lionel Priux, Nasir Chowdhury, Raihan Hasan,  Landin Darboe, Wedson Anselme scored for Jamal and Yeasin Khan missed. Whereas Augustin Walson,  Adam Jankasa, Germain Kenfack, Shafiqul Islam scored for Brothers and Imtiaz Sultan Zitu, Habib Mia missed.  

Jamal will face winner of the 3rd quarterfinals between Sheikh Russel and Chittaging Abahani on Sunday next
