Dhaka, February 25: Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited
confirmed the semifinals slot defeating Soccer Club Feni 2-1 in the Federation
Cup second quarterfinals match at the Bangabandhu
Mohammedan went ahead through substitute defender Biplu Ahmed in the
21st minute. The midfielder scored with an angular shot into far
post on a cutback of midfielder Abu Sayed Jewel. (1-0)
Guinean forward Ismail Bangoura doubled the lead in the 39th
minute. The Mohammedan forward’s header on
a free kick of Habibur Rahman Shohag was
punched by Soccer Club goalie Ahsan Habib Bipu but Bangoura headed the
rebounder into the net. (2-0)
Soccer Club came close to reduce the margin in the 57th
minute. Gambian midfielder Dawda Ceesay’s powerful shot from outside the box
was saved by Mohammedan goalie Md. Nehal who dived to the left but forward Sohel
Mia failed to connect the rebounder.
In the 82nd minute Soccer Club midfielder Dawda Ceesay’s fierce
25 yards was punched away by Mohammedan goalie Nehal for corner.
Soccer Club reduced the margin in
the 90th minute. Forward Sohel Mia placed the ball into the net on cutback
of Dawda Ceesay from the left. (2-1)
