Muktis move to final

02: Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad reached final of the Federation Cup beating
Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited 4-3 goals in the sudden death of penalty
shootout at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
The match
ended 1-1 draw in the stipulated time.
Muktijoddha played
an organized football from the beginning and they possessed the ball position
better than Mohammedan.
But
Mohammedan had the first opportunity to move ahead but last match’s scorer Biplu Ahmed’s low effort
went in vein as the forward’s shot hit the side post.
However,
Muktijoddha went ahead in the 33rd minute through a penalty.
Mohammedan goalie Nehal brought down Muktijoddha’s Senegalese forward Camara
Sarba in the danger zone. Enamul converted the spot kick. (1-0)
After the
restart Mohammedan put pressure on Muktijoddha for equalizer and they came close
to score but forward Tauhidul Alam Shabuz failed to connect a cross off
midfielder Abu Sayed Jewel from left.
Forward Ismael Bangoura equalized in the 61st minute. Capitalizing on
a long ball from midfielder Mobarak the Guinean forward chipped the ball over
the onrushing Muktijoddha’s goalie Titumir Chowdhury. (1-1)
Muktis had a
chance to take the lead again in the 75th minute but Naeemur Rahman
Shahed’s 30 yards shot was punched over the crosspiece by goalie Nehal for
corner.
In the penalty shootout Enamul,
Ashraful, Shahed, Sweet scored for Muktijodhha and Camara, Fekri, Anwar missed
while Mobarak, Arup, Jony scored for Mohammedan and Faisal, Shabuz, Mansa Sylla,
Shohag missed.
