Sabina all set to create history
Dhaka, March 03: Sabina Khatun, the ace forward of Bangladesh national women team is all set to create history when she lands at Maldives for playing Club Maldives Women’s Football Fiesta 2015 on Wednesday..
Sabina will be the first female footballer of the country to play for a foreign club. The forward who has scored 116 local and 10 international goals in her five year long playing career will play for Police Club Maldives who will bear Air Fair, accommodation cost and some contact money as well.
These were disclosed in a press conference by Deputy Chairperson of women wings and Member of Executive Committee of AFC women football Mahfuza Akhter Kiron at BFF House on Tuesday.
Kiron is very delighted that first Bangladeshi women will play in foreign country. “We are very proud that Sabina will fly for Maldives tomorrow to play a football tournament for Police Club, Maldives. It is a sign of Bangladesh women's football's development” said the deputy chief of women football in Bangladesh.
Satkhrira girl Sabina expressed her target about enhnaciing the image of the country. “Obviously, it is a great achievement. I will try to put the best show and be the highest scorer, I will try my best to uplift the image of the country, as far I know this club became runners-up last year. I have target to do my best to improve the club's results” said Sabina
“We played last SAFF women football in Pakistan. I scored two goals against Maldives. I think that result inspired them to choose me.”
She also expressed gratitude to football federation who processing all things. “ I would like to give thanks football federation for processing every things to give me such a chance. I feel very grateful to them. Yes it is a big opportunity and matter of pride for me” said Sabina.
A total of 14 teams will participate the Football fiesta which will take place from 14 March to 17 April 2015.
