Uzbekistan beat India 2-0
Dhaka, March 27: Uzbekistan scored two late goals to start the AFC U-23 Group E Qualifiers with a 2-0 victory over India at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
India had the first shot on target in the 16th minute when forward Jayesh Dilip Rane's strike from outside the box was saved brilliantly by Uzbek goalkeeeper Akmal Tursunbaev.
Six minutes later, Holicharan Narzary found the Uzbek keeper one-on-one situation after a free run receiving a through from Abinas Rui Das but the forward's shot was too weak that made no trouble for Tursunbaev.
Uzbekistan piled more pressure on the opponents with continuous attacks and Kozak had another chance in the 84th minute that blocked by a India defender.
Igor Sergeev put Uzbekistan ahead two minutes before the stipulated time when the midfielder headed home a corner of midfielder Jamshid Iskanderov (1-0)
Vladimir Kozak doubled the lead as well as sealed the victory in the injury time placing the ball into an empty net after a pass from Sergeev (2-0)
