Bangladesh ready to face Singapore
Dhaka, May 29: Bangladesh takes on Singapore in a Fifa
Friendly International focusing upon the build up for the next month’s World
Cup Qualifiers at the Bangbandhu National Stadium at 4:00 pm on Saturday.
In the pre-match
presser at the BFF House on Friday both the team expressed their desire to grab
the opportunities in an important match ahead of their World Cup Qualifiers. The
German coach of Singapore Bernd Stange promised an attacking brand of football.
“I may term Bangladesh as the Dark Horse as we know very little about them, but
we respect our opponents and we will be firing all cylinders to present and entertaining
and attacking brand of football” said the German.
“There are 11 players who recently won the F.A. Cup in
Malaysia playing for Lions XII, we are prepared for a tough challenge and the conditions
are not a headache for us” he added.
Saiful Bari Titu, the Bangladesh coach attended the presser
in the place of Dutch head coach Lodewijk de Kruif who fell sick in the
morning. “It’s a very important match for us as we will we focus on the style
we want to adopt against Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, these matches are very
important to us, we want build the team for the ultimate challenges and the
players are fit and ready for the challenge” said Titu.
Singapore skipper Sarjil Ishaq will be playing his 121st
match.
Channel 9 will be transmitting the match live.
Bangladesh played with Singapore only once till date and the
match held in Merdeka Cup in 1973 ended 1-1.
