Russel pip BJMC
Dhaka, July 26, 2015:
Sheikh Russel KC beat Team BJMC 2-1 in the 2nd leg of the Manyavar
Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday.
Russel were close to
score in the 7th minute when Jahid Hasan Ameli’s header went inches
over the cross piece on free kick of Atikur Rahman Meshu from right flank.
Russel had another
chance to take the lead in the 9th minute but Bosnian forward Damir
Ibric shot from the box was punched away by BJMC goalie Arifuzzaman Himel, the
ball fed by Kingsley Chgozie.
Russel broke the
deadlock through a penalty in the 71st minute. BJMC goalie
Arifuzzaman Himel brought Nigerian forward Kingsley Chigozie down in the box and referee whistled for spot kick. Cameroonian midfielder Jean J Ikanga converted
the spot kick. (1-0)
Bosnian forward Damir
Ibric doubled the lead for Russel with a powerful angular shot from left flank
in the 75th minute. (2-0)
BJMC reduced the margin in the 85th minute when their forward Mehedi Hasan Tapu netted the ball with a placing shot from the box. (2-1)
With this win Russel
took their tally to 32 points playing 16 match while BJMC remained with 12 points also playing 16 matches.
