Dhaka, August 30, 2015: Naryanganj cruised into the final of the Sailor U-15 Football beating Sylhet 5-4 in the penalty shoot out in the first semifinal held at the Bangbandhu National Stadium on Sunday. The stipulated time ended in a 1-1 draw.
Sylhet took the lead in the very 2nd minute of the match with Rasel Ahmed running through the midfield and beating Naryanganj goalie Antor Kumar with an angular shot in the far post net (1-0).
Naryanganj settled down and started counter attacking and their spirit was evident in the 12th minute when forward Md.Ibrahim made his way through but his weak shot went straight to Sylhet goalie Fahad Ahmed.
But in the 17th minute, Ibrahim made no mistake to restore the parity. Watching Sylhet goalie Fahad out of position Ibrhaim placed the ball past him at the top of box with ball rolling into the empty net (1-1)
Naryanganj midfielder Rony Das curved a free kick from 20 yards out in the 41st minute but Fahad fisted the ball for a corner.
Naryanganj continued their dominance after the restart and in the 50th minute Md. Ibrahim saw his cracking right footer punched to safety by Fahad again.
Sylhet captain Abu Bakar, carrying a through pass of midfielder Raihan Khan managed to sneak through the Naryanganj defence in the 67th minute but fired above the crosspiece with Naryanganj goalie Antor at his mercy.
In the shootout Arafat Hossian, Imram Hossian, Rony Das, Sourov Sarker and Md. Ibrahim scored for Naryanganj while Ariful Hakim, Abid Ahmed, Abu Bakkar aand Raihan Khan netted for Sylhet. Rasel Ahmed missed.
Dhaka And Feni will play the second semifinal on Monday.
