Dhaka, December 24: Bangladesh started their SAFF Championship campaign in a disastrous 4-0 defeat against Afghanistan at the Trivandrum International Stadium at Kerala on Thursday.

Masih Saighani scored the opener in the 30th minute, Faysal Shayesteh doubled the lead in the 32nd minute, five minutes before the break Zubayr Amiri made it 3-0. Bangladesh conceded the fourth goal in the 69th minute with Khaibar Amani completing the rout.

Bangladesh faces Maldives in the next match on Saturday.
