Abahani thrash BJMC
Dhaka, 09 April 2016: Abahani Ltd tasted their first
victory in the KFC Independence Cup with a 5-0 victory over Team BJMC at the
Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.
In the 9th minute Abahani Ltd were
close to score when Nigerian forward Sunday Chozoba’s left footed grounder was
fisted to safety by diving BJMC goalie Arifuzzaman Himel.
BJMC also had a chance to take the lead but
Nigerian forward Eleta Kingsley’s shot was saved for corner by Abahani goalie
Sultan Ahmed Sakil.
Abahani took the lead in the 24th minute when
left back Waly Faisal curved a free kick from the left flank and Senegalese
forward Camara Sarra headed the ball, the ball cleared by a defender fell into
the feet of English forward Lee Tuck's cool headed finishing put the sky-blues
ahead (1-0)
The lead was extended in the 29th minute with
tall Senegalese forward Camara Sarra heading a corner curved by Lee Tuck into
the middle of the net 2-0)
In the 37th minute Eleta Kingsley
missed another chance to reduce the margin. The Nigerian failed to beat Abahani
goalie Sakil on a one to one situation.
BJMC was reduced to ten-man when their Nigerian
midfielder Samson Iliasu was sent off by referee in the 51st minute
for second bookable offense for diving inside the Abahani box.
Senegalese forward Camara Sarra scored the
third goal for Abahani in the 68th minute when an effort of Sunday
Chizoba fisted away by BJMC goalie Himel fell into his way and he headed the
home. (3-0)
Sunday Chizoba extended the lead to 4-0 in the 84th minute as his curving shot hit the far post net from the top of
box. (4-0)
Sunday Chizoba scored his second and fifth goal
for Abahani in the 89th minute. (5-0)
Abahani has four points from two matches while
BJMC has three from three matches.
