MSC stun Ctg Abahani
Dhaka, 17 April 2016: Mohammedan Sporting Club
returned to the winning spree beating Chittagong Abahani Limited 5-1 in the
Group A match of KFC Independence Cup at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on
Sunday.
In the third minute Chittagong Abahani’s Haitian
forward Leonel Proux’s 20 yards shot was saved by Mohammedan goalie Md. Nehal
who dived to his left and saved his team for a corner.
Guinean forward Ismael Bangoura put Mohammedan
ahead in the 20th minute. Midfielder Masuk Mia Jony curved a corner
from the left flag to Bangoura who headed the ball in the far post net from the
middle of the box. (1-0)
Midfielder Biplu Ahmed extended the lead in the
32nd minute. Forward Aminur Rahman Sajib sent a square pass to
Bangoura but Nigerian defender Alison Udoka’s blocked the shot, the ball went
to Biplu who placed the ball into the net over the Ctg Abahani’s on rushing goalie
Ashraful Islam Rana. (2-0)
Ctg Abahani struck in the 37th
minute through a penalty. Haitian forward Leonel Proux was downed by Mohammedan
midfielder Masud Rana in the box and referee ÂÂ whistled for a penalty. Captain
Zahid Hossain converted the spot kick. (2-1)
Mohammedan scored the third goal in the 51st
minute through Ismael Bangoura. Midfielder Biplu Ahmed delivered a cross from
the left to Guineas
forward Bangoura placed the ball into the net. (3-1)
In the 64th minute of the match
Mohammedan midfielder Masuk Mia Jonny produced an awesome footwork dribbling
past four Port City outfit players before shooting the
ball past Ctg Abahani’s custodian Ashraful Islam Rana. (4-1)
Substitute midfielder Yousuf Sifat scored the
fifth goal for Mohammedan in the stoppage time. Another substitute midfielder
Abdul Malek cut the ball back from the right flank and Yousuf Sifat placed the
ball into the net. (5-1)
After the win Mohammedan earned 6 points from 4
matches while Ctg Abahani remained their previous earning of 9 points from 4
matches.
