Super Mokh Cup 2016: Bangladesh U-14 reach Plate final

Kuala Lumpur, December 17: Bangladesh U-14 boys have clinched a 2-0 victory over Manchester City, England U-14 team in the semi-final of Plate group of the ongoing Super Mokh Cup 2016. By this, Bangladesh U-14 boys have reached to the final of the Plate group.

The jubilant boys will face Japanese team Shonan Bellmare on December 18 at 10.50 AM of Malaysian time (yet not confirmed) at MSN-Field D, Bukit Jalil, Malaysia.

In the semi-final held at Panasonic National Sports Complex, Shah Alam; Bangladesh took an early lead. Captain Fahim Murshed, who missed an open goal early in the match, managed to score in the eleventh minute. Bengal boys had a few more crucial opportunities but could not utilize those as Meraj Molla missed an easy goal just after Bangladesh took the lead. In the 21st minute, goalkeeper Emon Hawlader stopped a dangerous shot of the opponent English team. Murshed, after trying several times, found the net in the 34th minute and this time he did not disappoint.

Bangladesh boys led by 2-0 as the first half ended.

In the second half, Bangladesh displayed a scintillating show as they kept the ball moving fluidly from one midfielder to another. The brilliant midfield helped Bangladesh hold the possession and kept Manchester City pinned back in their own half. The defense, on the other hand, prevented the mighty Manchester City from scoring although they created two very good chances.

Later on, the Bangladesh U-14 boys got a few more chances likewise the first half but could not net.

Bangladesh got 4 corners and 0 free kicks in the match while the opponent got 3 corners and 1 free kick.

Central midfielder Fahim Murshed, Ridoy, Sanowar Hossain and Emon had a good game and powered Bangladesh U-14 National Team to the final of Plate championship.

After the match, Bangladesh Under-14 Head Coach Mr. Parvez said, “Although the England U-14 team (Manchester City) are excellent and they have a crop of quality players, Bangladesh played great football today. At this point our only goal is to be the Plate champion. Each of our players are fit and morally strong. Our boys are ready to put up a good fight and clinch the title.”

Meanwhile, another Plate semi-final match ended with Shonan Bellmare, Japan securing the final berth beating Kawasaki Frontale, Japan. (Notably, Bangladesh lost to Kawasaki Frontale, Japan by 1-0 in the group stage).
