China, April 22: Although they dominated most of the match, Bangladesh U16 girls lost by a solitary goal to the Chinese U14.
The Bengal girls dominated the first two of the three half hour sessions. This match was split into three half-hour sessions.
The deciding goal game from Ding Lei on the 75th minute, due to a defensive mix up, in the third session when Bangladesh had changed most of its playing eleven.
Sirat Jahan Shopna, who had scored goals at the SAFF games to spur Bangladesh to a second place finish, had a golden opportunity on the fourth minute. She lost another one on one chance on the 24th minute when the there was no one but the goalkeeper between her and the net.
There was another opportunity in the second session when Monica Chakma fed her with another sure goal. But the striker who dazzled the SAFF games did not click today.
The opponents also realised Shopna’s threat and began to mark her from early in the first session. It was in the third session that Bangladesh brought a number of changes to its playing eleven and conceded a goal soon afterward.
Bangladesh U16 is set to play a number of matches on their current trip in China. Tomorrow, they are scheduled to play the Shaanxi Province’s U15 team at 4pm.
