Beanibazar Uttar Baridhara tie 1-1
Dhaka, February 6: Beanibazar and Uttar Baridhara drew 1-1 in the opening match of the Premier Bank Bangladesh Championship League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
Beanibazar took the lead in the 26th minute after midfielder Ali Hossain was fouled by Uttar Baridhara defender Mamun Hossain in the middle of the box and Tajul Khan scored the resulting penalty (1-0).
However Uttar Baridhara equalized in the 35th minute due to fumble of Beanibazar goalie Rizowan. He failed to hold a harmless shot and Tony Barman send the ball in the near post (1-1).
In the 71st minute Beanibazar earned another penalty but midfielder Tajul Khan failed to score this time. He put the ball into the net in his first effort but it was disqualified due to the entrance of a player in the box before the shot was taken. Tajul skied the ball in the second attempt.
Textile and Jute Minister Abdul Latif Siddiki inaugurated the league as the chief guest. BFF president Kazi Salahuddin, senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy and Imran Iqbal, director Premier Bank were also present on the occasion.
