BPL: Arambagh stun Brothers
Dhaka, February 7: Arambagh rallied back to enforce a thrilling 2-1 victory against Brothers Union in the Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday.
Brothers Union dominated the scene and came close to a strike in the 35th minute but Kingsley Cigozie missed a low cross of Joshua Olalekan at the top of the six yard box.
However five minutes later Nigerian forward Joshua Olalekan put his team ahead. His compatriot Samson Lliasu fed him with a nice through pass and Joshua beat his marker and placed the ball in the far post net (1-0).
Arambagh’s Nigerian forward Elita Kinglesy in the 45th minute broke free but his left footer was punched to safety by Brothers goalie Uttam Barua.
One minute after the break Joshua Olalekan chipped the ball to Kingsley but his placing missed the side post by a few inches.
On the hour mark Elita Kingley fired a 20 yard free kick but Uttam Barua again punched the ball for a corner.
Nigerian striker of Arambagh Ujumefun Joel equalized in the 75th minute with a delicate side volley off a cross curved by Aminur Rahman Shohag from the right flank (1-1).
In the last minute of the three minute stoppage time Ujumefun Joel scored the winner after Elita cut the ball back to him and Joel placed the ball in the near post (2-1).
The first round ended with the match.
