BPL: Jamal taste first win
Dhaka, February 8: Defending champions Sheikh Jamal beat Farashganj 2-0 in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday.
However it was Farashgnaj who came close to the score first in the 22nd minute but Zahirul’s shot on a Moloy Barman corner missed the side post by a few inches.
Overlapping defender Mishu put Jamal ahead in the 32nd minute after Nigerian winger Femi Orunimi sent a low cross from the right flank and Mishu placed the ball in the far post from the middle of the box (1-0).
Nigerian forward Kester missed an open net in the 44th minute after Femi Orunimi set him free with a neat square pass.
Kester missed again in the 61st minute as he ran down the right flank but failed to beat Farashganj goalie Sultan Ahmed Shakil.
But he scored in the 90th minute after Towhidul Alam Sobuj initiated a counter attack and Kester beat onrushing Shakil at the top of the box (2-0)
Sheikh Jamal lost the first match against Team BJMC while Farashganj conceded their second consecutive defeat.
